Tribe Profile
Jeannine Buscher
Position Title:
Co-Founder and Mama in Charge
Start Date:
Saturday, March 1, 2008
In 20 words or less, what do you do for Buchi?:
I connect the pieces together and hold the larger vision. I work day and night, especially when problems arise. Sarah and I fill the gaps in the skills and co-create the vibe and the community that is Buchi and our lives.
Favorite Buchi Flavor:
Buchi Earth
Favorite Libation:

Well I haven’t had one in a long time ::she has one in her hand during interview:: but I’d have to say Malibu mixed with Limited, AKA Malibuchi

If you could create a Buchi flavor what would it be?:
I can’t tell you...ok a hint? Something spicy, salty, and sweet. It’s still evolving. I can’t reveal any more.
Talents and Hobbies:

I love mountain biking, rafting, skiing, racquetball, volleyball, gardening, guitar, reading (mostly non fiction) My favorite book in high school was The Road Less Travelled. Now it might be Nourishing Traditions, I reference it all the time. But now I have a 13 year old son and a thriving business so it’s hard to make time for any my favorite things, but I sneak it in every once and a while....

Personal Mantra or Quotation:

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Change the way you think.

Superhero Power:

I want to be omnipotent and bothered by nothing. Currently my superpower is being spherically well rounded, the ability to see the good in all things and deeply grounded.

Reason for being here, what excited you about Buchi?:

For starters it’s so inspiring to start something from nothing and then it’s even more inspiring to attract people that you love and love to work with and create it together. Since I’ve been a young adult, I’ve always want to live in a community and I never knew how that was going to happen and somehow it just evolved through Buchi. I wanted to have an integrated life, where regardless if you’re working or playing you’re around people that you really enjoy being around, so it’s not a superficial relationship but a deep interaction with people you’re around on a daily basis. You go through the highs and lows together and you bust your ass working together. That is pure ecstasy even though it’s a lot of work. Most important is that our kids can grow up in this situation, and they have this amazing pool of people to learn from and gain so much from their interactions. For us it’s 100x better than an isolated family unit.

Favorite Local Asheville Product (other than Buchi):

East Fork Farms Lamb.

Where are you most likely to be seen around town?:

Nowhere. I never leave. You may see me at a festival (but only if Buchi is working it)

Life Dream:

We’re heading towards it, maybe 5 years from now. Still being around the same people, but not as stressed, more able to travel, to have well adjusted kids and for Buchi to be able to really reinvest what we are creating with other projects and similarly minded people, especially helping other small local businesses get going.
